The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich: A History of Nazi Germany by William L. Shirer.One of the most complete and thorough books on the history of the Third Reich, by a man who witnessed some of the events first-hand, and an enjoyable read too. I do however suggest reading the next book also, to get a different and perhaps more accurate perspective on the origins of the Third Reich and WWII:
